I've been so preoccupied with everything that's been going on lately that I haven't had a moment to post an update. So much has happened over the last two days!
I'd been having a pretty rough time with the type of migraine that can only be described as a "death defying feat of survival". I went in for my beta hCG Monday afternoon, and wouldn't get results until Tuesday. I had an early court hearing so I couldn't make my regular lab time. Going in late meant waiting an entire day for results! Talk about a nail biter!!!!
That migraine lasted 48 hours before I decided to call my RE. Once I spoke to him and described my symptoms, he told me to go directly to the preggo ER, and not to pass GO or collect my $200. I went and we met there with the hubs, who was out of his mind with worry.
Everything turned out ok. I was given Demerol, and then sent home to rest. I begged the nurse to get an order for bloodwork do I could get my beta results that night, but she refused saying I had it drawn already and my insurance wouldn't cover two. Blah. All I could do was let the hubs drive me home and pray that the Demerol wouldn't hurt my beans. It seems like every time we get pregnant, we end up in the ER!
I still had no idea why I was in so much pain. According to my RE and the hubs, I had "done too much" the day before. Saturday and Sunday I decided to clean. I didn't just clean though...I whipped through the house like a Tasmanian devil, eradicating dust, dog hair, and everything else in my path. By the end of Sunday I felt like I was on my deathbed. The moral of this story? When your RE tells you to take it easy, DO! You aren't the same woman you were before and your body needs more rest than you realize.
The headache never actually went away, but the Demerol did make it so I didn't care about it as much. I had a long trial day Tuesday, so my nurse was kind enough to leave my results on my voicemail while I was working. She said "Congratulations, you're SUPER pregnant!" At 10 days post transfer, my beta hCG was at 582! Whoa! For just one embryo? I dunno about that.
I know the HPTs said I was pregnant, but it wasn't really real until beta day. I've said since day one of BCP that this cycle was IT! Somehow, I knew it would work. See what a little faith gets you? The third time really is the charm for me.
I have absolutely no symptoms today. No cramps, no bleeding, no discomfort, nothing. I could sleep another 8 hours, and a mid-day nap wouldn't go amiss, but other than that everything is everything. My next blood test is today, and as long as my numbers double well, I'll come back for my ultrasound around March 10th. I can't wait to see my bean(s) and hear the glorious little heartbeat(s) flutter!
Stay tuned for updates! One bean or two? Good lord help us....three? We shall see.....
